Steph drew back the curtains and opened her balcony door. What a sight. She’d forgotten they were anchored today and the view of Gustavia’s harbour was so picturesque. It didn’t look crowded like a lot of the islands, just a scattering of little red brick houses nestled below the steep hillsides on either side of the small harbour town. There was only one other small cruise ship anchored nearby, along with half a dozen private yachts. She watched the crew lowering the tender boats that would take them into the port. One passed by her balcony. At least she got a good view of it. She took some photos and then went up for breakfast. She took nothing with her apart from her phone, key card, and passport which she slipped into her back pocket. She figured she’d pay for stuff if she needed it. No need to carry around a bag with a bunch of stuff in it.

When she got down to the theatre, Cori was waiting for her, and she fetched their coach tickets for the short ride to the ATV centre.

Cori sighed. “I couldn’t believe it when I opened my curtains. It’s so beautiful. It’s like a postcard and so elegant.”

“Yes, very French and chic. Apparently, it’s the playground for the wealthy and sophisticated. Miles from Paris, but decidedly French.” Granted, she was quoting something she’d read from an internet search, but it sounded good.

“I’ve heard. I can’t wait to see it. Aren’t we lucky?”

“Yeah, I keep having to pinch myself. Can’t believe I’m here and seeing all these fantastic islands. I feel incredibly privileged.” Steph looked towards the stage and listened to the announcement. “That’s us. Let’s go for our next adventure.”

They piled into the tenders and chatted to their fellow passengers. The guy next to Steph nudged her. “See that yacht there?”

“Yup. Can hardly miss it. It’s nearly as big as our ship.”

“You know who owns it?”

Steph hated guessing games. “Please tell me.”

“That Russian billionaire oligarch who owns the football club.”

“Really.” Steph stared goggle-eyed as the tender slowed down whilst passing the yacht. She got her phone out and snapped away. “Jeez, there’s even a helicopter on it.”

“Yep. Two helipads. It’s twice the size of the pitch at Stamford Bridge. I’ve been reading up on it.”

Steph shook her head. “Wait ’till I tell them back home. They’re not gonna believe it. Do you think he’s doing a bit of shopping in the port?”

“If he is, they’ll close it to the public. He’s got a luxury mansion here as well.”

Steph googled it. “Bloody hell, it even has a three-person submarine. It’s like a James Bond movie.”

“What’s that?” Cori asked.

Steph related the story and Cori leaned forward to get a view of the yacht they were passing. “Wow. Hope you can send me some pics.”

“Along with all the others we’re going to take today. Mind you, you’ll have to do the photography. I’m driving.”

Cori grimaced. “Oh hell!”

When they got into the port, they joined their small group. There were a couple of minivans waiting for them which took them to their starting point.
