Steph drew back the curtains and opened her balcony door. What a sight. Sheâd forgotten they were anchored today and the view of Gustaviaâs harbour was so picturesque. It didnât look crowded like a lot of the islands, just a scattering of little red brick houses nestled below the steep hillsides on either side of the small harbour town. There was only one other small cruise ship anchored nearby, along with half a dozen private yachts. She watched the crew lowering the tender boats that would take them into the port. One passed by her balcony. At least she got a good view of it. She took some photos and then went up for breakfast. She took nothing with her apart from her phone, key card, and passport which she slipped into her back pocket. She figured sheâd pay for stuff if she needed it. No need to carry around a bag with a bunch of stuff in it.
When she got down to the theatre, Cori was waiting for her, and she fetched their coach tickets for the short ride to the ATV centre.
Cori sighed. âI couldnât believe it when I opened my curtains. Itâs so beautiful. Itâs like a postcard and so elegant.â
âYes, very French and chic. Apparently, itâs the playground for the wealthy and sophisticated. Miles from Paris, but decidedly French.â Granted, she was quoting something sheâd read from an internet search, but it sounded good.
âIâve heard. I canât wait to see it. Arenât we lucky?â
âYeah, I keep having to pinch myself. Canât believe Iâm here and seeing all these fantastic islands. I feel incredibly privileged.â Steph looked towards the stage and listened to the announcement. âThatâs us. Letâs go for our next adventure.â
They piled into the tenders and chatted to their fellow passengers. The guy next to Steph nudged her. âSee that yacht there?â
âYup. Can hardly miss it. Itâs nearly as big as our ship.â
âYou know who owns it?â
Steph hated guessing games. âPlease tell me.â
âThat Russian billionaire oligarch who owns the football club.â
âReally.â Steph stared goggle-eyed as the tender slowed down whilst passing the yacht. She got her phone out and snapped away. âJeez, thereâs even a helicopter on it.â
âYep. Two helipads. Itâs twice the size of the pitch at Stamford Bridge. Iâve been reading up on it.â
Steph shook her head. âWait âtill I tell them back home. Theyâre not gonna believe it. Do you think heâs doing a bit of shopping in the port?â
âIf he is, theyâll close it to the public. Heâs got a luxury mansion here as well.â
Steph googled it. âBloody hell, it even has a three-person submarine. Itâs like a James Bond movie.â
âWhatâs that?â Cori asked.
Steph related the story and Cori leaned forward to get a view of the yacht they were passing. âWow. Hope you can send me some pics.â
âAlong with all the others weâre going to take today. Mind you, youâll have to do the photography. Iâm driving.â
Cori grimaced. âOh hell!â
When they got into the port, they joined their small group. There were a couple of minivans waiting for them which took them to their starting point.
